Training & Compliance

Run Your Business.
Know Your Responsibilities.

The Jurupa Valley Chamber helps local employers understand important workplace topics, find practical guidance and connect directly with the official resources behind California requirements.

Start With Employer Training
The Chamber as Your Guide

You shouldn't have to know which agency to search before you even know what question to ask.

That's where JVCC can help. We organize important employer topics into plain-language starting points, share practical business guidance and then direct you to the appropriate official source when specialized information is needed.

We Help You Identify

The workplace issues and responsibilities worth having on your business radar.

We Help You Prepare

Simple systems and habits that make employer responsibilities easier to manage.

We Help You Connect

Direct access to the agencies, training and professional resources that handle the details.

Educational Resource: This page provides general business information and links to official sources. It is not legal, tax, HR or professional advice. Requirements can vary by employer, industry and situation.

Chamber Business Tip

Don't wait until training is due to figure out who has completed it. Keep certificates and training records together and assign one person to track employee and supervisor training.

Employer Essentials

Keep These Areas on Your Radar.

These aren't six separate courses. Think of them as six areas of your employer responsibilities that are worth reviewing and keeping organized.

JVCC's Approach

We give you the starting point. The linked agency gives you the official requirements and current details.

01
Workplace Communication

Required Workplace Notices

Employers have posting and employee-notice responsibilities. Required materials can change, so use the state's current posting information rather than relying on an old poster or checklist.

02
Workplace Safety

Injury & Illness Prevention

California employers must establish and maintain a written Injury and Illness Prevention Program. Your program should reflect the actual work, hazards and procedures of your business.

Chamber Tip: Don't create a safety plan just to file it away. Make sure someone owns it and employees understand the procedures.
03
Prevention Planning

Workplace Violence Prevention

Many California employers are subject to workplace violence prevention requirements involving planning, training and recordkeeping. Exemptions apply in some circumstances.

04
Hiring Employees

Payroll Registration & New-Hire Reporting

Once you employ workers, payroll-tax registration and employee reporting become part of your business operations. California employers also report new and qualifying rehired employees to the state's New Employee Registry.

Chamber Tip: Add hiring paperwork and required reporting to one repeatable onboarding checklist.
05
Employee Protection

Workers' Compensation

If your business has employees, workers' compensation coverage and a clear process for handling workplace injuries should be part of your employer system.

06
Worker Relationships

Employee or Independent Contractor?

A worker's classification depends on the actual working relationship and the legal standard that applies—not simply what the business and worker call the arrangement.

Chamber Tip: If you're unsure how a worker should be classified, this is an area worth verifying before problems arise.
A Practical JVCC Approach

Build Compliance Into the Way You Run Your Business.

You don't have to memorize every regulation. You do need a system for knowing what you've completed, what needs attention and where your records live.

1
Set Up

Give Employer Responsibilities a Home.

Assign responsibility and organize training records, policies, insurance documents, employee notices and safety information in one consistent place.

2
Maintain

Make It Part of Normal Operations.

Build required reporting, employee training and recordkeeping into onboarding, management routines and your business calendar.

3
Review

Revisit Requirements as Your Business Changes.

Hiring, adding supervisors, moving locations or changing operations can affect what your business needs to address.

Business Support Doesn't Stop Here

Keep Learning With Your Chamber.
